I don't know if it's just me, but I've got to a point now where any of my days off have to be spent doing something. I physically can't seem to chill out in the sense that I do nothing at all. I want to do that, but it never happens nowadays. Sure, maybe have a bit of a lay in, but I have to go out and do something, however small. So on one of my days off, I popped over to Rye for something to do. Plus the place is Insta heaven, so it's a win-win, right? Initially, I tempted myself over that way for hot chocolate at The Fig. Then I got carried away when I came across a shop where I found a few bits and bobs in the sale (one item which will be very useful for Instagram and blog pictures) and it's definitely somewhere I will return to in future and spend way too much money.
Have I hit that age where going for strolls and enjoying a nice beverage on a chilly day are really enjoyable? Oh well, I don't care. It's a great way to unwind. I even whipped out my film camera! See, already sort of taking on board one of my resolutions that isn't really a resolution but a thing I want to happen more frequently...
One thing I love about Rye is the displays in shops, and the exteriors to people's houses. Whether that is their doors or gardens, when I see a gorgeous one, I have to take a picture. So glad I got a decent shot of St Mary's House, as it's a place I've wanted to grab a picture of for ages. How awesome are these Alice in Wonderland tea towels? Need them, but also wouldn't want to use them!
I then rounded off the day by watching Pitch Perfect 2 (oh god, I ship Becca and Chloe like FedEx, and the Birgitte Hjort Sørensen crush has resurfaced. Hooo boy). Chilled out days are so much better when you feel you can actually remember what you've done? Mainly because when I'd laze about, the day would be a blur and would have no recollection of anything worthwhile being done.
How do you like to chill out?
